On June 23, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in the celebration of the national Tatar holiday Sabantuy in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny.
Mayor of Naberezhnye Chelny Nail Magdeev congratulated citizens on the holiday. "Sabantuy is rightfully one of the most favorite and long-awaited holidays of our republic. It is celebrated not only in our country, but also in the countries of near and far abroad. This means that the national holiday is becoming a part of the world cultural heritage. On this festive day from the bottom of my heart I wish you good health, happiness and prosperity. Let the holiday give positive emotions, joy from meeting with friends, relatives and colleagues!” Magdeev said.
Speaking at the event, Pesoshin noted that Sabantuy is a symbol of the unification of the Tatar people. "The geography of the holiday is expanding every year," he said. “More and more Tatars take part in the holiday. This year 355 events to celebrate Sabantuy will be held worldwide. One of the best holidays will be held in Naberezhnye Chelny, the city of enterprising people and hard workers."
Magdeev and Pesoshin handed in state awards of the Republic of Tatarstan at the holiday.
