On September 8, at the Akimat of West Kazakhstan region, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had an official meeting with Akim of the region Altai Kulginov, after which a business meeting between the authorities and business representatives of the West Kazakhstan region and Tatarstan was held.
Opening the business meeting, Kulginov thanked Minnikhanov for his visit to the region on the day of Uralsk city and noted that bilateral relations have been developing from year to year. Last year, the region's foreign trade turnover between the Russian regions amounted to about 1.5 billion US dollars, 200 million US dollars of which is the share of cooperation with Tatarstan.
Minnikhanov also expressed gratitude to Kulginov for the invitation to visit the West Kazakhstan region and the city of Uralsk and for the assistance in the organization of the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy.
Tatarstan President said that an Intergovernmental Commission on cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan is planned to be held in Kazan in October this year.
Minnikhanov also expressed gratitude to Kulginov for the support of the Tatar community of the region, where over 8,500 Tatars live today.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Vasil Shaikhraziev made a presentation of the economic potential and investment attractiveness of the republic to the participants of the meeting. Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of Tatarstan Sergey Ivanov reported on the tourist attractiveness of Tatarstan, which is located less than 600 kilometres away from Uralsk.
At the end of the business meeting, a number of agreements were signed. The Akimat of Taskalinsky district of the West Kazakhstan region signed a Memorandum on cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural and humanitarian spheres with Aktanyshsky region of Tatarstan. Department of information, state services and archives of the West Kazakhstan region signed a Protocol of Intentions with Gradient Kilby Tatarstan Company. Zenit Ural plant and Ak Bars Shipbuilding company also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
At the end of the working visit to the West Kazakhstan region, Minnikhanov , accompanied by Kulginov visited the Kama-Kazakhstan trading house, The Kazakhstan transformer plant, Zenit shipbuilding plant and the West Kazakhstan machine-building company.
