On May 15, during his working visit to Istanbul, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Mercedes-Benz Turk Bus Plant.
A new Mercedes-Benz bus plant was opened in 1995. The area of its production site is 360,000 square meters, 127,000 square meters of which are covered facilities. The company employs more than 3,300 people.
During his visit to an assembly shop, Minnikhanov was informed that, on average, the plant produces 16 buses a day. As of today, Mercedes-Benz Turk has produced more than 88,000 buses. The localization of its production facilities is more than 60 per cent.
At a demonstration site, Minnikhanov was shown a model range of Mercedes buses produced at the plant in Istanbul, including urban and suburban models and tourist coaches. Today, vehicles are exported to more than 70 countries. In 2018, more than 3,700 buses rolled off the production line, more than 90 per cent of which were delivered to Western and Eastern Europe.
Tatarstan President also visited Mercedes-Benz Turk Research and Development Centre, which employs 350 people.
