“Dear citizens of Tatarstan! Dear compatriots!
I congratulate you on a very important event in the cultural life of Tatarstan, multi-ethnic Russia and all Turkic people – the 130th anniversary of a great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai.
He lived a short but creative life that is seared into Tatar literature and the spirit of our people. All over the world our compatriots proudly say “Our Tukai” and compare their words and actions with the personality of this outstanding poet.
His works are embedded into our culture and turned into the example of purity and expressiveness of the Tatar language. Poetic masterpieces of Tukai made a great contribution to the education of many generations, and the poem “Native language” is still our national anthem. It is right to celebrate his birthday on April 26, the Day of native language…”
