Rustam Minnikhanov: The republic deserves to host the Euromoney forum

Tatarstan deserves to be the host of so large an investment forum as Euromoney is, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov believes. He said it at the opening of the Kazan International Investment Forum Euromoney-Kazan 2010 on October 14.

This year, the forum brought together more than 500 businessmen from Russia and abroad. The forum includes seven panel sessions, round tables and business meetings. As part of the forum, a number of agreements are to be signed. Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov attended the first session.

As the head of the republic said, Kazan managed to create a good business platform where topical issues of economic development can be discussed. “The number and level of participants of the forum have been increasing each year; influential representatives of the international business community attend the forum. The geography of the forum covers tens of countries from all the continents,” Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized.

According to the President, the republic deserves to be the host of this event. “We believe, the republic today offers favorable investment climate and comfortable and transparent business environment. Tatarstan has become a port through which foreign investors enter Russia’s economy,” Rustam Minnikhanov declared. He went on to say, according to the data of the first six months of 201, Tatarstan is second after Moscow in terms of the amount of foreign investment. The republic offers investors a developed industry, the transport and innovative infrastructure and the intellectual and scientific and technical potential of its people.

Rustam Minnikhanov also briefly told the participants of the forum about the republic’s social and economic development.

A more detailed presentation on the Tatarstan economy was made by Tatarstan Economy Minister Midkhat Shagiakhmetov.

Other speakers at the morning session were Dominique Moisi, the Special Adviser of the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) and Natasha Khanjenkova, the Managing Director for Russia of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
