On November 25, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrived on a working visit in Samarkand, the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he was met by khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov.
Upon his arrival Minnikhanov went to meet the active of Tatar community organization in Uzbekistan.
To date, the number of Tatars in Uzbekistan amounts to 300,000, which is about one per cent of the total population of the country. The largest diasporas of the Tatars of Uzbekistan live in the Tashkent and Samarkand regions.
On November 26, Minnikhanov is scheduled to launch a new KAMAZ truck assembly line in Samarkand.
Later on the same day, Tatarstan President and his entourage will go to Tashkent, where they will get acquainted with the work of the Tashkent Agricultural Machinery Plant and visit the correspondent office of the Novy Vek TV and Radio Company. The decision to establish the TNV office was made after a meeting with the local Tatar community in 2017.
Minnikhanov is also scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Elyor Ganiev under the Tatarstan-Uzbekistan business forum.
Tatarstan President will also meet Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. They are expected to sign a series of cooperation agreements between enterprises of Tatarstan (Russia) and Uzbekistan.
Tatarstan delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister of the republic - Chairman of Milli shura national council Vasil Shaikhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Head of Tatarstan State Committee on Tourism Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shamil Ageev and also senior executives of the largest enterprises of the republic, who intend to establish and develop bilateral cooperation.
